This Sunday May 31, the Blue Full Moon is peaking in the fiery, unfiltered sign of Sagittarius. Because it’s a Blue Moon; the second full moon in a single calendar month, the energetic volume is dialed all the way up. Sagittarius is the seeker, the truth-teller, and the wild nomad. It doesn’t do small talk, and it absolutely hates being caged. Combined with a Blue Moon, this transit is about radical expansion, cutting through your own bullshit, and blowing up whatever stale, safe boundaries you’ve built around yourself.

Sagittarius Blue Moon Energy

Sitting directly across the Gemini sun, this full moon in Sagittarius is creating some tension between spoken words and their true meanings and between what is said aloud and what is true.

This Sagittarius full Blue Moon is bringing with it momentum, renewed hope, and spiritual guidance; that gives us the confidence to move forward with our goals. This is a time for deep soul realignment, and truths to be told, or revelations of some kind.

The full moon isnt asking for a performance release. It is illuminating what has been growing since the last new moon and asks us to look at it honestly. Sagittarius full moons ask what stories am I telling myself and are they true?

This moon is a celestial match dropped onto a pile of dry wood. Sagittarius wants truth, freedom, and perspective. It forces you to look at where you are playing small or lying to yourself just to stay comfortable. Because it's a Blue Moon, the universe is giving you a double dose of release. If something has been simmering beneath the surface all month, expect it to boil over. Don’t fight it; let it burn so you can see what’s actually worth saving.

The Cosmic Guardrails: Dos & Don'ts

What to do:

Speak your raw truth. Sagittarius demands honesty. Call things what they actually are, even if it feels uncomfortable or messy.

Expand your horizon. Do a tarot spread on your big-picture future, dive into a new esoteric study, or plot your next massive pivot.

Move the energy physically. Shake, dance, or use fire to shift the stagnant weight you've been carrying since the start of May.

What not to do and what to avoid:

Pick petty fights. There is a fine line between radical honesty and reckless fire. Don't waste this massive energy on trivial drama.

Gaslight yourself. Don't try to play nice or convince yourself that "everything is fine" if you feel suffocated.

Make impulsive, permanent choices. Sagittarius energy loves a wild leap, but with the emotional high of a Blue Moon, wait until the smoke clears before you quit your job or burn a bridge you actually need.

The "Sovereign Fire" Release

Since Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign, we aren’t doing a passive, gentle crystal-cleansing ritual. We are using fire, friction, and absolute intent to clear out the garbage.

What You Need

A piece of paper and a black pen

A fire-safe bowl, cauldron, or outdoor fire pit

Matches or a lighter

A pinch of coarse sea salt and dried rosemary (for protection and clearing)

Step 1: Cast your circle, space or simply drop into your power. Sprinkle your salt into the fire-safe bowl, acknowledging it as your anchor and protection.

Step 2: On your paper, write down the exact things that are holding you back, caging your freedom, or forcing you to play small. Don't edit yourself, don't worry about being "positive," and use profanity if it fucking helps. Get the raw energy out of your head and onto the page.

Step 3: Fold the paper away from you (the traditional way to push energy out). Safely ignite the edge of the paper and drop it into your bowl. As it burns, throw the pinch of dried rosemary onto the flames.

Step 4: While the paper turns to ash, speak your intent out loud. It doesn't need to be a fancy spell. Something like: "I burn the cages I and others have built for myself. I am unbound, unfiltered, and free." Let the ashes cool completely, then toss them to the wind or bury them outside.

Full Moons are traditionally for release, but a Sagittarius Blue Moon is also about vision. Once you burn away the dead weight, use the rest of the night to dream ridiculously big. No limits. Think of something that you think can only happen "Once in a Blue Moon". This is your blue moon moment, release and welcome it in.

The Sagittarius Blue Moon Tarot Spread: "The Unbound Seeker"

This isn't a passive what does the universe want me to know kind of spread. This layout is designed to mirror the fiery, truth seeking arrows of Sagittarius. It’s here to expose the cages you’ve built for yourself so you can finally burn them down.

Card 1 (Left Side): The Illusion (Where you are playing small or lying to yourself) This card exposes the comfortable lie you’ve been telling yourself to avoid taking a risk. It’s the safe boundary that has actually become a cage. Look here to see where you are swallowing your truth or minimizing your power just to keep the peace.

Card 2 (Right Side): The Match (What this Blue Moon is trying to torch) This is the specific belief, habit, relationship, or project that has reached its expiration date. The energy of this card is what needs to be thrown into the ritual fire. If you don't release it willingly, the Blue Moon will likely stir up enough friction to burn it down for you. Let it go.

Card 3 (Top): The Horizon (The expanded vision waiting for you) Sagittarius is the sign of the cosmic explorer. Once the smoke clears from Card 2, this is the bigger picture, the higher truth, or the massive potential you finally have room to see. This card represents your uncompromised, unfiltered future.

Card 4 (Bottom): The Wild Leap (The uninhibited action to take now) Fire signs demand movement. This card tells you exactly how to embody the wild, untamed energy of the Archer. It’s your immediate action step to reclaim your sovereignty and step out of the safe zone.

Reading Tip: If a card shows up that feels uncomfortable or aggressive (like the Tower, Death, or the Swords court cards), don't panic. That is exactly the kind of fierce, transformative medicine a Sagittarius Blue Moon thrives on. Welcome the heat.
